Cristiano Ronaldo during the UEFA EURO 2016 Group F match between Portugal and Austria at Parc des Princes on June 18, 2016 in Paris, France.

Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t had a great European Championships so far. He hasn’t scored in either of Portugal’s two draws so far despite attempting a mind-blowing 23 shots, and missed a penalty off the post in their 0-0 draw with Austria on Saturday.

He’s won every major club and individual trophy in both England and Spain during his career with Manchester United and Real Madrid, yet his trophy case representing Portugal on an international basis remains relatively bare.

Before Portugal’s crucial match with Hungary on Wednesday afternoon in Lyon, Ronaldo and his teammates were out for a walk near a lake and a member of the media attempted to get a comment from Ronaldo. Naturally, he answered all of the reporter’s questions and provided plenty of great insight into his current mindset.

Just kidding – he grabbed the microphone and threw it into the lake.

Portugal can still win Group F, needing a win over Hungary and an Iceland draw or loss to Austria (or an Iceland win by a lower margin than Portugal’s win over Hungary). They can also still finish last if they lose to Hungary and if some wackiness goes on in the Iceland-Austria match (the math makes my head hurt). It’s still a wide open group going into the final matchday, and one that Portugal should have been able to take advantage of instead of being stuck in the mire with the other three teams.

If Ronaldo doesn’t show up on Wednesday and Portugal fails to advance, his performance during Euro is going to come under even more scrutiny despite a club season with Real Madrid that saw him claim his third Champions League victory.
