  • NASCAR Xfinity Series: Coca-Cola Firecracker 250 (Daytona) on July 1 registered 829,000 viewers for the entite race on CNBC and an additional 243,000 viewers on NBCSN for the race’s final hour. The combined viewership of 1.072 million was down 24 percent from last year’s Daytona race (July 1, 2016: 1.408 million viewers on NBCSN).

  • NBCSN’s live coverage of the first two stages of cycling’s Tour de France on July 1-2 averaged 261,000 viewers, down 14 percent from the year-ago weekend (July 2-3, 2016: 304,000 viewers). Also compared to last year, the replays in prime time (average of 148,000 viewers) were down 39 percent (July 2-3, 2016: 242,000 viewers) and in late night (average of 43,000 viewers) were down 22 percent (July 2-3, 2016: 55,000 viewers).

  • The Germany-Chile final and Portugal-Chile semifinal in soccer’s 2017 Confederations Cup were FS1’s top two telecasts of the week. While Germany-Chile (800,000 viewers on July 2) drew the best audience for a non-U.S. men’s national team soccer match on any network in 2017 to-date, it was down 59 percent from the 2013 Cup final between Brazil and Spain on ESPN (1.952 million viewers on June 30, 2013). The third-place match of Portugal-Mexico on July 2 (267,000 viewers) was down 67 percent from 2013’s Uruguay-Italy (798,000 viewers on ESPN June 30, 2013); the Portugal-Chile semifinal on June 28 (498,000 viewers) was down 19 percent from Brazil-Uruguay (618,000 viewers on ESPN June 26, 2013). The 2013 Confederations Cup took place in Brazil and its major matches aired in more U.S.-viewer favorable time slots than the 2017 Cup from Russia, in addition to the different network outlets — ESPN in 2013, FS1 in 2017 — that covered the tournament.

  • The first two rounds of golf’s U.S. Senior Open on FS1 June 29-30 averaged 112,000 viewers, significantly up 90 percent from the first two rounds of last year (Aug. 11-12, 2016: 59,000 viewers) that had aired opposite the Rio Summer Olympics. Compared to the most recent Senior Open that did not face an Olympics (June 25-26, 2015: 137,000 viewers), it waa off by 18 percent.

  • Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 June 27, which featured the fight of Miguel Cruz vs. Alex Martin, drew 204,000 viewers, up 17 percent from the year-ago FS1 PBC of Cherry-Rhodes, also on a Tuesday night (June 28, 2016: 175,000 viewers).
