Ratings News and Notes

  • The first two weeks of the “Little League World Series” on ESPN and ESPN2 from Aug. 7-12 and 17-20 averaged 658,000 viewers, up 3 percent from two years ago, the most recent LLWS that did not air opposite the Olympics. (Aug. 11-16, 19 and 21-23, 2015 on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPNews: average of 642,000 viewers). But it also delivered an 11 percent decline among adults 18-49 (202,000 vs. 226,000).

  • 28 hours of “Fantasy Football Marathon” programming on ESPN and ESPN2 from Aug. 14-15 averaged 191,000 total viewers and 115,000 adults 18-49.

  • Coverage of men’s tennis’ “Western & Southern Open” from Ohio on ESPN2 Aug. 17-20 averaged 212,000 viewers, up 130 from last year’s Olympic-affected tournament (Aug. 18-21, 2016: 92,000 viewers) but down 32 percent from two years ago (Aug. 20-21 and 23, 2015: 311,000 viewers).

    The women’s final on Aug. 20 (242,000 viewers) was up 69 percent from last year (Aug. 21, 2016: 143,000 viewers) but down 71 percent from two years ago (Aug. 23, 2015: 847,000 viewers). The 2015 final was won by Serena Williams over Simona Halep.
