Deion Sanders

The Chicago Bears got shellacked 35-14 by the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, and while much of that was due to the sensational play of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, A LOT of it was also due to the terrible play of Bears quarterback Mike Glennon (who keeps playing — for some reason — over 2017 first-round draft pick Mitch Trubisky).

Glennon had three turnovers in the first half, and one turnover even made Tony Romo yell “Oh no!” after Glennon couldn’t handle a snap. The turnovers played a huge factor in the Bears trailing 21-7 at halftime.

Well, during the CBS/NFL Network halftime show, Deion Sanders said that “Mike Glennon is doing his job.”

Sanders continued that Glennon was “effective” and “efficient” in the first half.

Does this look like “effective” and “efficient” to you?

And, Glennon followed up those plays — and Sanders’ comments — with this interception in the fourth quarter:

It’s known that Glennon isn’t a playmaker, due to his complete lack of mobility and his tendency to panic under pressure. For a pocket passer, his arm also leaves you wanting more.

What Glennon is expected to do is at least be able to manage the game, run the offense efficiently, make the basic NFL throws, and not have silly turnovers. And now Glennon is tied for the most giveaways in the NFL.

So, to say he “did his job” in the first half — or any Bears game so far — is simply bizarre.
