The NFL season has officially begun with the first Thursday and Sunday of the season officially completed, and Chris Berman is on the microphone for game two of the Monday night doubleheader.

Prior to the start of the second quarter, Chris Berman began talking about the National Anthem protests that occurred before the game began. Naturally, the producers used a shot of Colin Kaepernick. Unnaturally, Berman referred to Kaepernick as Blaine Gabbert.

No Berman, that is very clearly not Gabbert and instead Kaepernick for a number of reasons:

1. Gabbert didn’t make headlines for his protest, Kaepernick did.

2. Gabbert is not African-American and Kaepernick is.

3. Gabbert and Kaepernick look nothing alike.

4. That’s just not Gabbert at all.

It was probably an honest mistake as Gabbert is the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. However, to make that mistake at all is just odd based on the scenario it was made.

If Berman mixed up the two while a replay was being shown that would be one thing. But to confuse the two when the shot was very clearly and obviously Kaepernick is just odd.

Whether these people were referring to Berman’s switcheroo between Kaepernick or not, it’s clear that not everyone is a fan of the ESPN veteran.
