NBC hockey analyst Pierre McGuire was interviewing USA forward Gigi Marvin during the second intermission of the USA-Canada women’s hockey Gold Medal game in Pyeongchang, when he asked Marvin a question about the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The USA lost to Canada in overtime of the Sochi gold medal game.

You’re one of the 10 ladies that experienced the disappointment in Sochi. What’s going to be your message coming out here for the last 20 minutes?”

McGuire asking a question about the Sochi loss, with Marvin and the USA about to enter the final minutes of the Pyeongchang gold medal game, wasn’t received well on Twitter (and especially with NBC pushing the Sochi theme to an extreme degree all night).

Well, the question didn’t seem to bother anyone more than another NBC employee, Leslie Jones. The Saturday Night Live cast member has also done some on-set coverage for NBC in Pyeongchang (example).

Jones had some very NSFW commentary in response to McGuire’s question:

“Okay, fuck, asshole! Why the fuck would you ask her that right now, in the middle of a fucking game that she’s playing right now? Thank you. Thank you for putting that in her motherfucking head. You know what, get your ass the fuck away from the hockey player! You know what, I swear to god, I swear to god. See, when I go, ya’ll lose your fucking mind! What the fuck would you ask her that for?”

Marvin certainly answered the question with class, and she won’t have to answer questions about “disappointment” over the next four years when it comes to the Pyeongchang games. Marvin and Team USA came away with a 3-2 victory in a thrilling shootout to win the gold medal for the first time in 20 years.
