Along with Adam Schefter, Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski is highly regarded as one of the top newsbreakers in all of the sports media. Just how highly regarded is Woj and his famous #Wojbombs? Now NBA teams are even crediting him with scoops on trades!

Early Sunday afternoon Wojnarowski reported that Denver and Portland were swapping big men and draft picks. The Nuggets were getting Mason Plumlee and a second rounder while the Blazers were acquiring Jusuf Nurkic and a first rounder.

About 25 minutes later, Blazers Twitter confirmed the trade, while also taking the awesome and surreal step of giving a good ol’ tip of the hat to Wojnarowski for breaking the news.

The story on the Blazers website even credits Woj with breaking the news about the trade! That’s a level of deference and respect I’m not sure we’ve ever seen for one of the big national newsbreakers. Now we’re wondering if Woj really knew what was happening before the Blazers themselves even knew what was going on. (I’m envisioning now a scenario where Adrian Wojnarowski secretly controls all 30 of the NBA’s franchises in some kind of Illuminati situation just so he can get the edge on breaking midseason trades involving rotational big men.) Then again, maybe the Blazers were just being extra generous since the NBA wants their player and team Twitter accounts to be nice to everybody.

If Woj does ever officially get to Bristol and join ESPN, seeing him link up with Adam Schefter would basically give ESPN the sports equivalent of Woodward and Bernstein.
