It’s been another busy week in sports media. We’re here to recap the biggest news and events that took place and share some of our best work from the week that was. Without further adieu:

Sacramento Kings announcer Grant Napear was very happy the team traded DeMarcus Cousins – Feb 20

Longtime Kings play by play announcer Grant Napear went on a Twitter rant following Sacramento’s trade of DeMarcus Cousins. He claimed the Kings “just became a team again” and that his teammates “hated playing with him! That is a fact!”

Report: Kings flagship station pulls radio host off air for criticizing DeMarcus Cousins trade – Feb. 22

Keeping with the Kings, KHTK radio host Damien Barling was suspended after calling the Kings front office “embarrassing.” His co-hosts canceled scheduled shows without him. The Kings claim to have nothing to do with his suspension.

WFAN confirms they’d consider Chris Christie to replace Mike Francesa, but could it happen? – Feb. 23 

Dustin Racioppi of NorthJersey.com confirmed WFAN’s interest in New Jersey governor Chris Christie as a potential replacement for Mike Francesa. Christie exits office in January, a month after Francesa’s contract ends.

FS1 cancels Fox Sports Live, won’t renew contracts for Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole – Feb 23

According to Sports Business Daily’s John Ourand, FS1 canceled Fox Sports Live and won’t renew the contracts of hosts Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole. The duo were hired in 2013 after spending their careers at TSN.

FS1 mulling changes for Katie Nolan’s role as Garbage Time in current format will not be renewed – Feb 23

Our own Ben Koo reported FS1 isn’t bringing back Katie Nolan’s Garbage Time in its current format. The show will either be canceled outright or brought back in a new format. Fox Sports told Awful Announcing they’re still excited to work with Nolan and further develop her role at the network.
