On Tuesday, NESN announced that Red Sox analyst Jerry Remy’s cancer has returned.

Jerry Remy has been diagnosed once again with cancer.

At this time, Jerry’s focus is on his medical treatment. The thoughts and prayers of all of us at NESN and the Red Sox are with Jerry and his family during this difficult time.

Last summer, Remy announced he was facing his fifth battle with lung cancer, and eventually underwent chemotherapy.

It’s far from the most critical aspect of Remy’s illness, but Steve Lyons will replace him in the Red Sox booth alongside Dave O’Brien during Boston’s next two series, on the road in Toronto and Baltimore.

A number of well wishes came in from the sports world.

The 65-year old Remy has worked for NESN since 1988.
