The A’s massive comeback win over the Rangers last night was a lot of fun, but there was one standout play that didn’t show up in the box score.

With no outs in the bottom of the fourth, the game still tied 2-2, and Joey Gallo at the plate, there was a routine foul ball that happened to find its way to the A’s booth. That led to the rare instance of A’s radio play-by-play man Roxy Bernstein calling his own catch:

“Fouls it back this way…and I caught it! How about that! Where’s a kid?”

Bernstein immediately looking for a kid is also great, though it’s the narrating his own play that really makes the highlight. Bernstein, who also does work for ESPN and the Pac-12 Network, was clearly and understandably in good spirits on Twitter:

It’s going to be tough for Bernstein to top a night in which he got to call an A’s win in which they came back from a 10-2 deficit in the 7th inning to win via a go-ahead 3-run homer in the 10th while also bare-handing a foul ball live, on-air. That has to be a dream night for a broadcaster, and Bernstein actually lived it.

Nice catch, Roxy.
