It’s been another busy week in sports media. We’re here to recap the biggest news and events that took place and share some of our best work from the week that was. Without further adieu:
One caller used a weather delay to make a fantastic dildo burn live on SportsCenter. Well done.
ESPN had a rough week after pulling Robert Lee from calling an upcoming UVA game because of his name and the recent events in Charlottesville. The reaction to their decision overwhelmed any possible scorn they could have received had they not done anything at all.
Reuters tried to report on the story, but incorrectly tweeted Robert Lee was the doppelganger of the Confederate General Lee and then also incorrectly tweeted he was Lee’s namesake.
Amidst the news initially being leaked to Clay Travis, John Skipper blamed the story’s circulation on “someone with a personal agenda.”
Ken Rosenthal’s written work will now appear at The Athletic. He’ll remain on-camera with Fox Sports and MLB Network.
Police reports indicate ESPN’s Ryen Russillo was arrested after breaking into a Wyoming condo while “highly intoxicated,” with his pants around his ankles.
