  • The superstar shake-up edition of USA’s “WWE Smackdown” on Apr. 11 registered 3.108 million viewers — up 32 percent from the year-ago Smackdown (from Apr. 14, 2016) and the show’s best viewership figures since the WWE draft (then, SmackDown’s first-ever live Tuesday airing) — on July 19, 2016 (3.17 million viewers). It also ranked as the second most-watched “Smackdown” in over three years (since 3.14 million from Mar. 7, 2014).

  • The prime time doubleheader of Game 1s of the “2017 NBA Playoffs” resulted in easy Sunday night key demo wins for TNT on Apr. 16. Both Oklahoma City Thunder at Houston Rockets (5.16 million viewers) and its preceding game Chicago Bulls at Boston Celtics (5.14 million) were the most-watched NBA Playoff First Round games on a cable network since New York-Boston in 2011.

  • NBA-TV’s live post-game coverage after each 2017 NBA Playoff game from Apr. 15-16 — led by the late-night post-game of Utah-L.A. Clippers Game 1 on Apr. 15 (74,000 viewers) — averaged 48,000 viewers, up 7 percent from the same weekend one year ago (44,000 viewers for Apr. 16-17, 2016).

  • Golf Channel’s tournaments coverage from Apr. 14-17:

    • PGA Tour: RBC Heritage (Apr. 13-16 afternoons; Golf Channel only): 418,000 viewers/48,000 adults 18-49 (-9 percent/-18 percent from Apr. 14-17, 2016: 457,000 viewers/59,000 adults 18-49)
    • Champions Tour: Mitsubishi Electric Classic (Apr. 14-16 afternoons): 173,000 viewers/27,000 adults 18-49 (+20 percent/+22 percent from Apr. 15-17, 2016: 144,000 viewers/22,000 adults 18-49)
    • European Tour: Trophee Hassan II (Apr. 13-16 late mornings): 102,000 viewers/20,000 adults 18-49 (+9 percent/-2 percent from May 5-8, 2016: 93,000 viewers/23,000 adults 18-49)
    • LPGA Tour: Lotte Championship (Apr. 13-16 prime time): 192,000 viewers/28,000 adults 18-49 (-6 percent/+13 percent from Apr. 14-17, 2016: 206,000 viewers/25,000 adults 18-49)
    • Ladies European Tour: Lalla Meryem Cup (Apr. 15-16 early mornings): 72,000 viewers/15,000 adults 18-49 (+42 percent/+109 percent from May 7-8, 2016: 50,000 viewers/7,000 adults 18-49)
  • The Chicago Cubs were again a ratings benefit to MLB Network. The Apr. 12 Dodgers-Cubs game (A’s-Royals in other markets) in prime time was the network’s most-watched telecast of the week with 481,000 viewers. The Apr. 14 Pirates-Cubs afternoon game at Wrigley Field (352,000 viewers/114,000 adults 18-49) delivered large increases of +48 percent and +70 percent, respectively, from the comparable year-ago game of Rockies-Cubs (238,000 viewers/67,000 adults 18-49).
