It’s Sunday, which means we and lots of other sites kind of half-ass content. With that in mind I’ve interviewed my friend Milton who spent a huge chunk of money on a 4-foot tall Jon Gruden Corona bobblehead. For some context, I’ve met Milton a handful of times (primarily fantasy football drafts) and he’s consistently “the most social guy at the party.”

But what makes a man plunk down hundreds of dollars (they can by found online for $300-1000 on Ebay) for one of these? The following is an in-depth interview with Milton and five minutes of your life that you may wish you could get back.

When and how did you become aware that there was a 4-foot Jon Gruden bobblehead?

I first spotted the bobblehead as I was heading to an A’s game. A local Safeway grocery store had it displayed in their beer aisle. At first, I thought it was some cutout. However, upon getting closer, I saw it in all of its glory.

What was your initial reaction?

As a collector of bobbleheads, I was taken with its size and condition. I knew right then and there that I needed to add this bobblehead to my collection. Then one day, as I was searching for new pieces, I came across it.

How long did it take for you to decide to buy it?

Instantly. You can’t hesitate on something like this because before you know it, it’s gone.

How much did it cost? How much more do you think you would have paid for it?

I will say this: for the size, immaculate condition and rarity of the bobblehead, I got a GREAT price!

Did you consult anyone on this purchase decision? (Are you in a relationship and if so, was she consulted in this matter or have an opinion on this?)

Luckily, I did not have to consult with anyone. I did, however, contact my family with news of the purchase and, of course, a photo.

If the bobblehead was Gruden and another brand like something you consider lame (Smirnoff Ice or whatever), would you still get it?

Of course! I would definitely try to customize it, though.

Do you like Corona?

I have been known to enjoy a Corona or two in my days. [I can verify this as accurate.]

Why Gruden? Is there another sports media personality you’d prefer a 4-foot tall bobblehead of?

I like Gruden as a broadcaster. He brings a level of detail not usually seen and even more so as a coach. Maybe a 4-foot tall Craig Sager.

How have friends/roommates/family reacted to this purchase?

Haha, the most common reaction is “Only you, Milton.”

Where have you put it? Where does this rank in terms of sports memorabilia?

I’m still determining on the best location. I want to make sure it’s seen and yet ensure that it stays in its immaculate condition. It’s a fun piece… a total conversation starter.

Are you a fan of Gruden as a broadcaster?

Who isn’t a fan of Chucky? I wish a certain owner would reach out and interview him for a job opening though (cough… cough, Jed York).

If someone were to say in our comments “this guy is an idiot for buying this,” how would you respond?

Honestly, I could not care less what others think. I love the uniqueness of it and I am a proud owner. I’m sure anyone would love to have it for their man cave.

There you have it, folks. Maybe this article will get adapted into a movie one day, given how riveting all of this was?
