It’s not Super Bowl Week yet, but as we often do in the Awful Announcing offices, we check ahead to see what will be in store on the networks. As the number of cable sports networks have increased over recent years, Super Bowl Week means an opportunity to fill programming and showcase some personalities.
Some of these shows have been previously announced while others are listed in programming guides, but have yet to be officially unveiled. We’re posting what we have been able to cull from the various networks and the cable and satellite programming guides for February 1 through 5. We’re going alphabetically here.
CBS/CBS SPORTS NETWORK
As the rightsholder to Super Bowl 50, CBS is going all out to let us know that it’s carrying game. It will establish a base at Super Bowl City at the foot of Market Street in San Francisco and have several of its shows air live from its headquarters in the Bay Area.
For CBS Sports Network, it’s going to be practically Super Bowl Central with 75 hours of programming. Three shows will be simulcast from Radio Row, Boomer & Carton (6-10 a.m. ET), Jim Rome (noon-3 p.m. ET) and Doug Gottlieb (3-6 p.m. ET).
CBSSN will also produce original programming from San Francisco including NFL Monday QB, We Need to Talk, That Other Pregame Show and a nightly Super Bowl Live program (10-midnight ET) that will wrap up the day’s events.
CBS will air the first hours of its four-hour Super Bowl Today pregame show live from San Francisco before heading to Santa Clara for the Big Game.

DIRECTV/AT&T U-VERSE
Through the Audience Network, the AT&T-owned DirecTV will have two shows, the Dan Patrick Show (9 a.m.-noon ET) and the Rich Eisen Show (noon-3 p.m. ET) air live from San Francisco during Super Bowl Week.
ESPN
The Worldwide Leader will be based at Marina Green as its San Francisco headquarters. It will air 45 live hours of programming from the Bay Area including SportsCenter, NFL Live and NFL Insiders. Mike and Mike and First Take will air live from Fort Mason while Rusillo and Kanell will be based out of Radio Row.
ESPN’s outdoor set will overlook the Golden Gate Bridge and the iconic Alcatraz, the former prison located in San Francisco Bay.
FS1
Here’s where it gets interesting. Fox has yet to officially announce its Super Bowl plans but based off of DirecTV’s program guide, we know that on February 1, the following shows will air from San Francisco. All times are Eastern
noon-3 p.m.: The Herd — Most likely airing live from San Francisco
3-5 p.m.: Whitlock’s House Party by the Bay — We have no idea what this entails and we fear that this could be a pool party which would be extremely dangerous for America (we kid or maybe we aren’t)
6-7 p.m.: Garbage Time With Katie Nolan — A daily edition of her weekly show. Probably airing live from San Francisco
Expect Fox Sports Live to air live reports from the Bay Area during Super Bowl Week.
NBCSN
It will simulcast DirecTV’s Dan Patrick Show every morning from 9 a.m.-noon ET plus have editions of Pro Football Talk at 6 p.m. ET from Tuesday, February 2 through Friday, February 5.
NFL NETWORK
Airing programming known as “Everything but the game,” NFL Network will be based in the Bay Area throughout the week. Its morning show, “NFL HQ” will be renamed “Super Bowl HQ” and daily afternoon programs “Super Bowl Live,” “Super Bowl Tonight,” “Super Bowl Opening Night,” and “50 Super Bowl Stories” will fill out the daily schedule.
SHOWTIME
The CBS Sports-produced “Inside the NFL” with Adam Schein, Boomer Esiason, Brandon Marshall and Phil Simms will air on Tuesday, February 3 at 9 p.m. ET from CBS’ Super Bowl headquarters.
So there will be plenty of shows airing live from the Bay Area. You certainly won’t be able to watch it all, but if you’re going to try, you’re certainly a better person than any of us here at Awful Announcing.
