Stuart Scott

The late SportsCenter anchor Stuart Scott was one of the prominent faces of ESPN in his time at the network.  One of the reasons why was his various catchphrases which have made their way into popular culture and in this case, even around the world.

Former Australian cricket star Adam Gilchrist was in the broadcast booth for Channel Ten and paid tribute to Scott while calling the T20 Big Bash League by breaking out his “cool as the other side of the pillow” to describe the action.

Sadly, his co-commentators must not have been SportsCenter fans because they acted like Gilchrist was speaking a foreign language…

This is hilarious. Australian cricketing legend, Gilly, trying to use a Stuart Scott call. Doesn’t work. #cricket

When you explain it like that, it really does make a lot of sense!  Gilchrist spoke about the tribute on Twitter:

Other SportsCenter catchphrases we hope can get over Down Under:

– Booyah!
– En fuego!
– And aloha means goodbye!
– JUMANJI!
– Can I get a witness from the congregation?

Similarly, I’d love to see Al Michaels’ reaction if Cris Collinsworth called a great catch a “specky.”
