Tulane baseball won a thriller in their NCAA Tournament regional Saturday, beating Ole Miss 6-5 when catcher Jake Rogers knocked a two-run homer in the top of the ninth.

The win kept Tulane’s season alive and knocked top-seeded Ole Miss from the tournament, and Green Wave radio announcer Todd Graffagnini did justice to the drama with a truly amazing call of the go-ahead homer. Take a listen:

That’s a helluva call and not only because he exhibits a Gus-Johnson-after-four-cups-of-coffee level of enthusiasm. He’s got like five awesome catchphrases in one 30-second click. “Ask and you shall receive!” “Deep, deep into the Oxford afternoon!” “Hang ’em, bang em, baby!”

But the best part was definitely, “It’s gone, it’s gone, it’s gone, it’s gone, it’s gone, it’s gone, it’s gone… it’s gone!” He pauses before that final “It’s gone” as if he think maybe he should stop at seven but then adds one more for good measure.

Unfortunately, Tulane lost Sunday and was bounced from the tournament, so we’ll have to wait for next year for more Graffagnini.
