This weekend presented one of the most frantic, unbelieavble finishes in recent college football history. Trailing Tennessee in the closing seconds, Georgia Bulldogs QB Jacob Eason threw a 47 yard TD pass to put Georgia up 31-28 with just 10 seconds on the clock. Incredibly, after an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the celebration and a decent kickoff return, Tennessee had the chance to answer with a last second Hail Mary heave of their own.

And they did just that.

Initially we shared with you the ecstatic Tennessee radio call. Well, for every winner, there must indeed be a loser. At least until the day where every sport gives everyone a trophy for every game. Here’s the “agony of defeat” side of the Hail Mary, called by Georgia announcer Scott Howard.

The amazing thing about both of these calls is the incredible roller coaster of emotion they had to ride in those final ten seconds. From thinking the result was pretty much a foregone conclusion with a Tennessee victory, to a miraculous Georgia win, to an even more miraculous Tennessee win.

You do have to give the Georgia announcers credit for at least getting words out and providing some kind of description for the play. That’s probably more than Hawk Harrelson would do.
