During the Ole Miss-Florida State broadcast on Monday night, ESPN showed off a promo in which Steve Levy informed us that SportsCenter will reveal the new Dos Equis “Most Interesting Man in the World” (previously played by Jonathan Goldsmith) on Wednesday at 6 PM ET:
And then on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt after the football game, ESPN had this Most Interesting Man in the World promo featuring anchor John Anderson:
The latest
- Singular focus on Caitlin Clark brings risk, reward for ESPN and women’s basketball
- Explosive lawsuit alleges sabotage and union-busting in Sports Illustrated-Arena Group divorce
- Sage Steele: The devil knocked out my teeth with a golf ball for suing ESPN and speaking out
- Rece Davis downplays ‘risk-free investment’ gambling comment on The Pat McAfee Show, insists he didn’t apologize
1. Well… that’s random.
2. So who is Dos Equis’ new Most Interesting Man in the World?
Since this is being shown on SportsCenter, there would of course seem to be a decent chance that it’s a familiar face in the sports world. So let’s take a look at some possibilities…
Peyton Manning. He’s probably too dorky for the beer industry and the smooth traits we think of with the Most Interesting Man in the World, but he’s retired from football and he’s a hell of a pitchman. Papa John’s, DirecTV, Nationwide, Buick… on and on. 🎶Ice cold beer you taste so good 🎶
Brett Favre. Another former star quarterback that does his fair share of his commercials.
Of course, if Dos Equis wants him to grow the beard, that could cause some conflict with his all-important MicroTouch deal!

Kenny Mayne. The longtime SportsCenter anchor is a very interesting character and as funny as they come.
Stephen A. Smith. Oh no, it’s going to be him, isn’t it? We’ve already heard the man yell about beef jerky enough. Please don’t let this happen.
Bill Walton. If we’re being honest, he really may be the most interesting man in the world. I mean…
Rob Gronkowski. Being a current NFL player would probably prevent this beer endorsement from happening, but otherwise this one would make a lot of sense… and we know Gronk would have a blast doing this. He has the personality, the partying lifestyle, and the popularity (the Madden NFL 17 cover athlete).
Larry David. Okay so this goes away from the sports world thinking — although he recently said he could be the Jets offensive coordinator — but this would be a prettaaaay, prettaaaaaaaay, pretty good choice.
Yes, it probably won’t be any of these people, and maybe it’s just a random actor… or maybe ESPN is just pulling a fast one on us to get us to watch, and there is no new Most Interesting Man in the World.
But, let’s assume there is a new one, who would be your guess and/or your choice? Post away in the comments and tweet us at @AwfulAnnouncing.
