During Tuesday night’s Dodgers-Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park, the CSN Philly trio of Tom McCarthy, Ben Davis, and Matt Stairs called the game from the second deck of Harry the K’s, a restaurant in left field of the ballpark. The network has moved the broadcasters outside of the booth on occasion, and it’s resulted in some fun moments – including McCarthy catching a home run and throwing it back.

However, things got a little…different in the third inning of Tuesday night’s game. That’s because the Phillie Phanatic showed up, and caused chaos to ensue.

The trio was taste testing some food options from the restaurant when the Phanatic showed up with some traditional ballpark food to throw a monkey wrench into things. He (it?) also came toting a massive container of popcorn, which soon ended up all over the broadcast setup and, especially, on Davis.

I love it when a plan comes together…

The broadcast as a whole seemed to go completely unhinged after the Phanatic’s disruption, as there were also interruptions from a gang of fans dressed as the Beatles (it was Beatles Night at the park) and the Galapagos Gang (the Phillies’ offbrand version of the Zooperstars). Davis also hopped behind the bar for a half inning and poured shots, mixed drinks, and fetched beers for the fans.

Hey, when the team is seven games under .500 in mid-August, why not have some fun?
