While FS1 has been in flux with its studio programming, its live sports coverage remains intact. Fox has announced that the network will have extensive coverage of the FIFA Presidential Election on February 26. Overall, FS1 will air over six hours of coverage on that day beginning at 3 a.m. ET.
Rob Stone will host the coverage with Alexi Lalas and contributor Mark Young in the studio while Kate Abdo and Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl will be in Zurich, Switzerland to cover the election.
FS1’s coverage will actually begin the night before, February 25 at 6 p.m. ET with an election eve special hosted by Stone, Lalas and Young in Los Angeles. The special will feature interviews with all of the FIFA presidential candidates, Prince Ali Al Hussein, Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Jerome Champagne, Gianni Infantino and Tokyo Sexwale.
The vote will continue throughout the morning and coverage will switch to FS2 at 9 a.m. ET.
For those at work who want to follow the vote, the Fox Soccer Twitter account will provide the latest information and the TV coverage will be streamed via the Fox Sports Go app as well as on the various cable and satellite apps that have agreements to stream FS1 and FS2.
The coverage will continue until a new man is elected to replace the much-maligned Sepp Blatter.
