The Louisville mens basketball team may not have played last night, but head coach Rick Pitino didn’t take the night off as he was hard at work recruiting potential future players. Pitino was in Indiana as he saw La Lumiere, the number one high school basketball team in the country, take on New Albany in the GEICO Showcase.

During ESPN’s broadcast, they spotted notable head coaches such as Kansas head coach Bill Self and Pitino. But for some reason, ESPN thought it was 1996 and Pitino was back at the University of Kentucky.

Rick Pitino is surely not walking through that door again.

How exactly does one make that mistake? I mean, if Pitino had just left Kentucky to go to Louisville, maybe someone in the graphics department slips up. But Pitino hasn’t been the Wildcats head coach since 1997 and became Cardinals head coach in 2001. In between that time, Pitino coached the Boston Celtics and well, the less said about that time, the better.

Anyway, after 15 years at Louisville, it’s tough to picture Rick Pitino at anywhere other than Louisville. At least people in Louisville had a sense of humor after seeing their head coach back at Kentucky.
