ESPN officially announced the return of Rachel Nichols to their airwaves on Wednesday, and revealed details about her new daily NBA show, premiering on February 18th.

The show will be entitled The Jump, and airs every weekday at 3:30 PM starting on February 18th. More details about the show and her new role via ESPN

The Jump will air on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. ET Monday-Friday. The fast-paced, half-hour program will originate from ESPN’s Los Angeles studios and will include regular appearances by current and former NBA players, as well as ESPN analysts, reporters and insiders. The show will be produced by ESPN senior coordinating producer Kevin Wildes and coordinating producer Richelle Markazene.

“The Jump is going to be a great big conversation about all the fun, serious, smart, crazy, big-issue, small-smile moments that make the NBA so fascinating,” Nichols said. “I’m thrilled ESPN is giving me the opportunity to help create and host this show, and that I’ll also have a voice on a wide range of sports and topics for SportsCenter, OTL and E:60 – shows I have so much respect and affection for.”

ESPN also announced details of their new weekday schedule, which will begin on February 19th. The Jump will lead in to the new half-hour long SportsNation at 4 PM each day on ESPN, followed by Highly Questionable, Around the Horn, and Pardon the Interruption. Outside the Lines starts the afternoon block at 1:30 PM, followed by NFL Insiders at 2 PM and a full hour of NFL Live at 2:30 PM.

I always thought it was kind of strange that ESPN didn’t have a midday NBA show in recent years, despite holding the rights to the league. Now, that’s taken care of with an experienced reporter and host in Nichols at the helm. At the least, it’ll be a departure from the endless drip of NFL content…for a half hour per day, at least.
