Former Washington Redskins defensive end Dexter Manley’s mouth has gotten him into trouble before. In 2013, he called Fox NFL analyst Troy Aikman a “queer” live on the radio, and was banned from DC station WTOP for life. Manley was on local CBS TV on Saturday, and the topic of Robert Griffin III came up.
Naturally, Manley had to talk about Griffin as a black quarterback rather than just a quarterback, and discussed the narrative about black quarterbacks being mobile…and said they like running because they’re used to running from the law.
Oh dear.

WHY? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHY?
This reaction sums up Manley’s comments pretty well.
Manley apologized shortly thereafter, saying “I say some things I don’t think about sometimes”. No, really?
Dexter Manley apologizes immediately after making controversial comments. @Deadspin @bomani_joneshttps://t.co/wflJcddR4d

Back in September, Manley also said that he’d take Joe Theismann (and Matt Ryan!) over Tom Brady. Needless to say, everything he says should be taken with a grain of salt – but when the “black quarterback” thing comes up again, maybe watch your words instead of immediately making a joke about running from the cops.
[FTW]
