It didn’t take ESPN too long to find a replacement for Curt Schilling in the Monday Night Baseball booth. Richard Sandomir of The New York Times reports that they’ve chosen to give that role to Dallas Braden:

Since his offseason move from Sunday Night Baseball in favor of Jessica Mendoza, Schilling has primarily worked with fellow analyst Eduardo Perez and the play-by-play rotation of Dave Flemming and Karl Ravech on the Monday Night Baseball broadcasts. Bringing in another former pitcher in Braden makes sense for ESPN, as that keeps with their preferred MLB three-person booth of a play-by-play commentator, a hitting analyst (Perez) and a pitching analyst.
Braden played for the Oakland A’s organization from 2004 through 2011, then battled injuries and retired to join ESPN at the start of the 2014 season. He signed a multi-year extension with ESPN last year. He’s worked mostly as a studio analyst, but has also served as a game analyst, so he does have some experience in this kind of a role. It will be interesting to see how he does in a more-regular booth job.
