Cris Carter The Herd

Former ESPN analyst and recent Fox hire Cris Carter dropped one of George Carlin’s “Seven Words You Can’t Say On TV” on FS1’s The Herd Friday. When relaying a story about Nick Saban’s hire at Alabama, Carter quoted a profanity Saban supposedly uttered during his interview:

“They said, ‘You know, we’re used to doing things this way, this way, and this way.’ And he said, ‘Good. You’ve lost every f**king way doing that. Now we’re going to do things my way.”

It’s unclear if this is an actual quote (Google doesn’t return any results for it), so this could is up there with Alabama’s made-up “national media” bulletin-board material. It is possible Saban or someone else with the Crimson Tide told Carter this story, though; he does have some potential connections there, as his son Duron transferred to Alabama in 2011 (but didn’t wind up playing thanks to eligibility issues). Either way, it’s something Carter probably shouldn’t have said in these exact terms. Perhaps he should look for a fall guy.
