On Saturday night, Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon hit a home run and everyone lost their minds.

Well, almost everyone.

Chris “Mad Dog” Russo didn’t lose his mind. In fact, he seemed quite livid with the coverage of Colon’s homer, if this clip from Monday’s edition of MLB Network’s High Heat is to be believed.

Update, July 2021: This clip has been taken down.

Chris – it’s baseball. Baseball is supposed to be fun. If a broadcaster (Gary Cohen, in this case) cranks the hyperbole up to 12, who is it hurting? Gary Cohen doesn’t really believe this is one of the greatest moments in baseball history. It’s a stupid oddity that we can remember and laugh at, like the buttfumble in a completely positive sense.

Nothing like getting the kids to care about baseball then by yelling at them for enjoying something absurd. I’m sure for Russo’s next act, he’ll chastise everyone who isn’t calling for Bryce Harper to be suspended after he cursed out an umpire on Monday night.
