The Big Ten was the first college conference to create their own television network, and an app (BTN2Go) came shortly thereafter. As we head into the 2016 college football season, BTN2Go has been updated to place more of an emphasis on your favorite school rather than the conference as a whole.

An update for the app will be available in the app store for your respective device on September 1st, and upon opening it for the first time, you’ll be asked to name a favorite school (or schools). After doing that, media clips and scores from your school’s sports (both mainstream and Olympic sports) will be at the forefront of the app.

In addition, social media feeds curated for each school are available, covering not only the official channels for the schools but also the media covering the schools.

“Since launching in 2011, BTN2Go has been the premier destination on game day for fans around the country to watch their school’s live events,” said Mark Silverman, President of BTN. “We are proud to build on that foundation by offering our users terrific school-specific content in a way that is highly personalized.”

BTN’s website also features an updated, more user-friendly video section, easily searchable by school, sport, BTN show, or student production.

BTN emojis are also included in the app update, so have fun with that.

Michael Calderon, BTN’s VP of Programming and Digital Media, talked to AA about the app updates and said, “BTN2Go has been a tremendous asset for us on gameday, and people have used it on gameday throughout the first five years so much. But we want to turn it into an app that you can use on more than just gamedays.”

Calderon also discussed the necessity to change the app’s interface after the addition of the new content.

“We easily could have added all of this digital content into BTN2Go and not changed the user interface, but it would have been difficult to navigate and find and to explore. We felt that we needed to put it front and center, understanding that everybody wants to see their school’s content before they see content from other schools.”
