Another Grantland alum has a new home, and another talented NBA writer is joining Bleacher Report. Jonathan Abrams will be joining B/R to write about the NBA, on the heels of the release of his New York Times best-seller Boys Among Men: How the Prep-to-Pro Generation Redefined the NBA and Sparked a Basketball Revolution.

The hire of Abrams comes less than a month after a report stating that Turner Sports, the owner of Bleacher Report, would be investing $100 million into the site to hire staff and produce both video and shorter social media content.

Given Turner’s relationship with the NBA and its ownership of Bleacher Report, hiring prominent NBA writers simply makes sense. The opportunities for cross-promotion are too easy. This is a strategy I’d expect Bleacher Report to continue in the future, especially leading into the 2016-17 season in the fall.
