OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – MARCH 18: Paul Jesperson #4 of the Northern Iowa Panthers hits a half court three pointer at the buzzer to defeat the Texas Longhorns with a score of 75 to 72 during the first round of the 2016 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at Chesapeake Energy Arena on March 18, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The first two days of March Madness did not disappoint with a bevy of upsets, Cinderella stories, and buzzer beaters.

None was more dramatic or exciting than Northern Iowa’s 75-72 victory over Texas.  After Texas tied the game with just a couple seconds left, Paul Jesperson went glass from the half court stripe to deliver one of the most iconic buzzer beaters in NCAA Tournament history.

Here’s how it sounded on UNI radio with Gary Rima at the mic.  It is glorious…

I think that’s more one-liners than I’ve ever heard for a buzzer beater call in a crazy moment like that. Bonus points for channeling Howard Cosell as well.

And just in case you haven’t seen the play in question, here’s the video as well…

God bless March Madness.
