The Late Late Show with James Corden got a post-Super Bowl slot on CBS Sunday night, and appropriate for the occasion, the show brought in Anna Kendrick, Zac Efron, and Adam Devine to help the host perform the history of sports movies in seven minutes. Much like similar sketches in which Corden and a guest run through an entire filmography — such as with Tom Hanks, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Matt Damon — this went pretty well.

(The actors were there to promote their upcoming Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, a trailer for which played to lead off the next commercial break.)

The group got started off with a nice fix of baseball films, including The Bad News Bears, and transitioned into Field of Dreams, and The Sandlot.

For basketball, they re-enacted Hoosiers, while Efron jokingly thinks that they are going to perform High School Musical. From there, the quartet transitions into the ever-popular Space Jam.

Corden and Efron carry Adam Devine in reenacting Rudy, and transition into the scene from The Blind Side, where Leigh Anne Tuohy teaches Michael Oher how to play football. Also, it wasn’t as scary as #PuppyMonkeyBaby, but Corden wearing Ali Larter’s whipped cream bra from Varsity Blues probably would have frightened more of America if the show hadn’t been on so late. (Also, Devine’s version of James Van Der Beek’s terrible Texas accent is spot-on.)

A series of scenes from the first four Rocky films wrapped up the sports movie extravaganza in iconic fashion, as Efron punched raw meat, Corden chugged a raw egg, and Kendrick ran up the steps as Rocky Balboa so famously did.

Not a bad run-through of sports movies, with many classics such as Raging Bull and Chariots of Fire covered. (Efron’s imitation of Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday might also be considered classic years from now. We’ll get back to you on that.)
