At the beginning of last week, Outside the Lines released a report detailing Pete Rose’s gambling on baseball games as a player in 1986. There hasn’t been *much* in response to the reports from Rose, but on Thursday night, he went on Fox Sports 1’s MLB Whiparound and commented on the report to Chris Myers.

Well, he sort of commented on the report.

So. Many. Non. Answers. But hey, at least he’s sticking to the same story about “agreeing not to comment back in February.”

I will say this about Rose – he seemed very genuine in his comments to Myers while explaining his side of the original ban in 1989, his admission in 2002, and why he wants to be reinstated.

Is there fire to the smoke created by the OTL report? I don’t know, but if there is, I’m not sure it’ll end up having an effect on Rose’s potential reinstatement. This isn’t an easy, cut and dry situation, and MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred will have a lot of factors to consider in regards to Rose.
