NFL Network has announced it will air a new original series starting in November called “The Timeline.” Produced by NFL Films, the series will look at some pivotal moments in the NFL’s history that according to the press release, “formed the NFL’s storied past, shape the present and, in some cases, set the stage for the future.”

The six-part series premieres December 3 following Thursday Night Football and air throughout the month. Some episodes will air on Tuesdays while others will be seen following Thursday Night Football games.

NFL Films has collaborated with stars outside the realm of football such as George Clooney who co-produced one installment, Tim McGraw who co-produced another and Jeremy Renner.

Here are some of the episodes that will air as part of “The Timeline”:

NFL Network-The Timeline Favre Returns
A look at Brett Favre’s departure from the Green Bay Packers and subsequent return to Lambeau Field as part of the Minnesota Vikings, then his triumphant induction into the Packers Hall of Fame after his retirement. Country singer Tim McGraw is named as a co-producer.

NFL Network-The Timeline Jersey Guys
This focuses on the New York Giants move from New York to New Jersey and eventually how the team embraced the Jersey ethic.

NFL Network-The Timeline A Tale of Two Cities
A two-part installment on the rivalry of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers and how it affected the both cities. Each installment will look at the rivalry from each city’s point of view.

NFL Network-The Timeline America’s Game and the Iran Hostage Crisis
Co-produced with George Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures which created the movie Argo on the Iranian hostage crisis comes this story on how a cassette tape of Super Bowl XIV was smuggled into the American embassy where the hostages were being held.

“The Timeline” premieres following Green Bay at Detroit on NFL Network on December 3. With NFL Films behind the series, the storytelling and accompanying footage should be very good.
