Just as AT&T is opening up DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket package to more consumers, Verizon is doing the same for its mobile subscribers. Sports Business Daily reports that Verizon will provide NFL games to all of its mobile subscribers instead of having it just for premium subscribers who were paying extra for certain services.

Verizon’s mobile rights with the NFL allows for the cell phone carrier to provide all of CBS’ and Fox’s in-market Sunday afternoon games, NBC’s Sunday Night Football, ESPN’s Monday Night Football and CBS/NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football to its subscribers.

The games will be made available in a new NFL Mobile app that will house all of the games plus a live NFL Network linear feed.

Verizon’s NFL mobile rights also include all playoff games and the Super Bowl. The cell phone carrier extended its rights with the NFL in 2013 with a $1 billion multi-year agreement allowing it to provide games to its subscribers.

The NFL and the NHL are the only leagues to carve its mobile rights separately. Both granted their rights exclusively to Verizon meaning if you have AT&T, T-Mobile or other services, you won’t be able to watch NFL games on your cell phone unless you can buy into AT&T’s new NFL Sunday Ticket plans.
