ESPN analyst Curt Schilling is in plenty of hot water after sending a tweet Tuesday comparing Muslims to Nazis, and Bristol’s already responded. ESPN PR’s Josh Krulewitz tweeted out a corporate statement on the matter Tuesday afternoon, declaring Schilling’s comments out of bounds and saying he’d be pulled from his current Little League World Series assignment:

ESPN comment on Schilling: Curt’s tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company’s perspective. We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration.

It’s going to be interesting to see just where ESPN goes from here with that “further consideration,” though. As discussed many times over the years, Bristol has been highly inconsistent with their suspensions, to such a degree that it’s one of the top five things about the company that needs change. Schilling has received substantial leniency from them in the past, too, somehow avoiding suspension after a Twitter debate about evolution with Keith Law that got Law suspended, and avoiding any ESPN repercussions amidst the collapse of his video game company and the allegations that flew about him as a result. Will the ESPN Wheel of Justice target Schilling more severely this time around? Or is “removing him from his current assignment” going to be all the punishment Bristol hands out, and will viewers soon again hear Schilling hurting ESPN’s baseball broadcasts?
