ESPN has made one addition to their neverending parade of NFL analysts, and gave one reporter a promotion. Former Eagles and Browns executive Joe Banner is joining ESPN as a Front Office Insider, joining Bill Polian, Louis Riddick, Mark Dominik, and Phil Savage at ESPN in the role. Josina Anderson has also been promoted to the level of National ESPN Insider at ESPN, joining Adam Schefter, Chris Mortensen, John Clayton, Ed Werder, Adam Caplan, and Field Yates.

Banner’s first day is September 3rd, and he’ll mainly appear on weekday editions of NFL Insiders. Anderson will also join him on the NFL Insiders panel while also still appearing on  NFL Live and SportsCenter, among other programs.

It was just a year ago when Anderson was in the spotlight for reporting on Michael Sam’s showering habits at Rams camp, reporting which ESPN later admitted they regretted and Anderson later defended. She’s largely let her reporting do the talking since then and has kept herself out of the spotlight.

As for Banner, how is ESPN going to fit yet another front office guy into their rotation of talent? What does he bring to the table that the other four former executives don’t? I suppose we’ll see in time.
