Back in June, Fox reportedly decided to replace Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions boxing card with cards from the upstart Premier Boxing Champions, which have aired on seemingly every sports network known to mankind.

This week, Fox confirmed the addition of PBC telecasts to the Fox Sports 1 portfolio, and a familiar face was announced as host – MLB Network’s Brian Kenny, who will be staying with MLB Network in addition to his new role with Fox and the PBC. The former ESPN2 Friday Night Fights host seemed thrilled to be back in his element with boxing.

“I’m so excited to be working on FOX Sports 1 on this new PBC series,” says Kenny. “We’re looking forward to making boxing even more accessible to the fans, providing world class match-ups and putting the spotlight on fighters who deserve to be seen by both hardcore and mainstream fans. We will be real with the audience, show them respect and give them the landscape of the boxing world.”

The series will be labeled as Toe-To-Toe Tuesdays, and premieres at 9 PM on September 8th with a card main evented by Austin Trout and Joey Hernandez. There will be 21 shows through the end of next June, which rolls out to roughly a card every other week. However, there will be four cards in September, with shows on the 15th, 22nd, and 29th following up the show on the 8th.

All of Fox’s PBC cards will be aired on Fox Deportes and called by Daniel Ponce de Leon and Samuel Jacobo. Both the English and Spanish feeds will also be available on Fox Sports Go. Other talent for the English broadcasts on Fox Sports 1 will be announced at a later date.

Kenny is an immediate big get for Fox, a familiar name that even casual boxing fans can feel at ease with. If they’re able to round out the rest of their crew with other experienced boxing commentators, they should be in better shape with PBC than they were with Golden Boy.
