It’s been a rough year on and off the ice for the Arizona Coyotes, and their long season took another strange turn on Thursday morning. Radio analyst Nick Boynton, a former NHL player who was hired by the team this past July after an 11 season NHL career, was arrested at Buffalo casino for biting a security guard.

An Arizona Coyotes broadcaster has been charged with becoming belligerent at a Buffalo casino and biting the hand of an officer trying to subdue the former NHL defenseman.

The charges against radio analyst Nick Boynton include assault and resisting arrest.

Police say the 36-year-old Boynton became abusive toward patrons and security personnel at the Buffalo Creek Casino at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday. Later that day, the Coyotes said they placed Boynton on leave.

The ongoing ownership struggle. A disastrous season that has dumped them to the bottom of the Western Conference. A fire sale of many of the team’s most recognizable talents. Attendance problems that still aren’t going away. And now, a radio analyst getting arrested and suspended for biting a security guard.
