2014 is a new era for the NFL as they expand to broadcast television for two nights a week.  After a prolonged period of intrigue, CBS emerged as the surprise winners of an 8 game primetime package.  Gone are the days when NFL Network produced their own games on Thursday nights – this is CBS’s show now with Jim Nantz and Phil Simms calling the action throughout the slate of 16 games and NFLN and CBS personalities mixing together for the studio shows.

It takes a degree in computer science to try to figure out which games are being aired where and when with the Thursday night NFL package that also features games on Saturdays and are televised on either CBS, NFL Network, or both…. but here goes…

Weeks 2-8 games will be simulcast on both CBS and NFL Network.  This was considered to be the stronger half of the Thursday Night Football schedule, but the quality of games seem to be fairly evenly split between the two.

Weeks 9-12 and 14-16 are games that will be solely broadcast on NFL Network.  Week 13 will see NBC air their Thanksgiving night game on Thursday.

Also in Week 16, CBS and NFL Network will air a doubleheader with one game scheduled for 4:30 PM ET on NFLN and the other scheduled for 8 PM ET on CBS.  Like Monday Night Football, there are no Thursday games scheduled for Week 17.

Got all that?  Of course you do!
