Rejoice, fans of the Olympics! Your all-year Olympics channel may be coming in the not so distant future. A meeting of the International Olympic Committee’s Executive Board recommended that an all-year Olympics TV Channel be set up. Details on the channel are still extremely limited, but it appears it would initially broadcast in English.

The channel still needs to be presented in front of the full IOC membership, but it’s expected the motion/proposal will pass. A digital offering for the Olympics has been in the works for quite some time now.

The goal of an all-year Olympics channel is to bring attention to the events which aren’t covered as heavily while the games are taking place. If you’re upset that figure skating dominates the dial during the Winter Olympics, you’d be theoretically enjoy all of the other events throughout the year on the Olympics channel. It’s akin to what you’d see on the Big Ten or SEC Network. An Olympics channel would be a welcome development for hardcore fans of the games.
