TMZ has more or less been dominating sports media for the past couple months. From Donald Sterling to Ray Rice to any other number of athlete scandals, they have been both breaking the stories and part of the stories themselves. Now, they will have an outlet with which to present it in a more traditional medium.

The Reelz Channel — a subscription-based service — has ordered a weekly series titled TMZ Hollywood Sports. The show will, according to PR statements “deliver a fast-paced, hard-hitting and fun look at a collision of worlds where sports (with no Xs and Os) meets celebrity meets Hollywood.” The show debuts on Sept. 29.

It’s a little disappointing to see TMZ take its sports operation to such a small, little-seen outlet, though you understand that it probably had to be this way. TMZ Sports was going to have to put its wares on a network that doesn’t and has little chance of ever working with the NFL, among many other leagues. It’s a network that TMZ probably had to be on.

That said, I wonder if it will be anything like the TMZ TV show? Annoying, bombastic announcers? A bunch of people you’ve never heard of BS-ing around about stuff we don’t really care about? Why, TMZ’s a natural for sports TV!
