TJ Oshie has become one of hockey’s somewhat unlikely faces in the past few months. Don’t get me wrong, Oshie is a solid goal-scorer with some TV friendly moves, but who could have guessed he would become the breakout star of the entire Olympics? His multiple shootout goals in Team USA’s win over Russia bought him newfound popularity and an Enterprise commercial.

Now, the St. Louis Blues forward is one of eight NHLers left to be considered for EA Sports’ NHL 15 cover. Similar to how EA has picked Madden covers, NHL 15 will be chosen in an elimination vote. Oshie just defeated Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche in the quarterfinals.

Oshie and the Blues have put together an excellent series of campaign commercial. The premise is simple: not only is Oshie running for the cover of NHL 15, but of every other EA Sports video game.

Oshie shows off a game-ness you rarely see from NHLers in media appearances. You can’t just be an American hero to keep yourself in the spotlight post-Sochi, you’ve got to have a little acting chops too. It’s clear we’ll be seeing Oshie’s face a lot in NHL-related spots over the next few seasons.
