There’s no love lost between longtime New York Daily News NFL scribe Gary Myers and former Giants running back turned media personality Tiki Barber.  After trading shots through the media years ago, they met on Barber’s CBS Sports Radio morning show and things turned nasty quickly.

The animosity between Barber and Myers dates back to 2006.  Back then, Myers was critical of Barber announcing his retirement plans during the season, calling him a distraction with the Giants.  Barber responded by calling him an idiot.

Myers was critical of Barber once again when he tweeted this on Monday night:

Myers then made an appearance on TBD in the AM, Barber’s national CBS Sports Radio show along with Brandon Tierney and Dana Jacobson, to hash things out.  The fireworks begin when Barber introduces Myers as his “faux friend.”  It ends with Barber sarcastically telling his guest to “have a great life.”

Get your popcorn ready, because this is more verbal slobberknocker than radio interview.

Here’s the audio via CBS Sports Radio:

Although it makes for entertaining, popcorn-munching theater… neither guy really covers himself in glory here.  Barber barely let Myers get a word in edgewise and berated him for minutes asking the columnist about his criticisms while simultaneously saying he didn’t care about said criticisms.  For his part, Myers’ claim that Barber is trying to make a name for himself by picking a fight on the radio is highly dubious considering he was a 3-time Pro Bowler.  People know who Tiki Barber is, he just couldn’t cut it as a morning show personality.

Then again, maybe Myers does have something resembling a point.  This is the first time Tiki Barber’s fledgling media career has made headlines in quite some time.
