It’s been quite a week for Matt Muszak and his girlfriend, Sandra Chenier.
On Wednesday night in Toronto, Matt was caught on national television going in for a kiss and getting denied by Sandra during a critical moment of Game 5 between the Raptors and the Brooklyn Nets.
The moment first appeared here, and went viral. It was everywhere, even reaching as far as Pardon the Interruption.
The next day, Muszak went on the radio to explain himself. The London, Ontario native joined The Craig Needles Show on local station AM980. The interview is definitely worth a listen:
Muszak said his girlfriend had an explanation of her own.
“She thinks she was finishing her sentence and just pulled away,” he told Needles. “It doesn’t look like it, but that’s what she says. She says she would have kissed me back.”
Then came the most surprising admission of all.
“It’s funny, because we don’t really remember that happening in the game. It’s weird.”
Muszak knows it’s out of his control now.
“I can’t do much about it, so I just have to embrace it.”
And embrace it, they did. The couple appeared on TSN’s pre-game show prior to Game 6 on Friday night.
What’s next for the Raptors’ new viral couple? Only time will tell.
