Former Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster, who walked away from his contract with the Boston Red Sox earlier this offseason, is joining MLB Network as a studio analyst.

Dempster will make his debut on Wednesday from Wrigley Field during High Heat with Christopher Russo at 1 PM, and will also show up on Intentional Talk following the broadcast of Wednesday’s Diamondbacks-Cubs game on MLB Network.

I think it’s appropriate that Dempster makes his MLB Network debut on a day the network is airing a game from a stadium he played many years in, and maybe he can provide some unique insight into the year-long celebration of the Wrigley Field centennial. MLB Network is really bolstering their analyst ranks as of late, and I think their programming has mostly taken a solid step up so far in 2014. Dempster has always shown a lot of personality, so he should be a good fit for the network.
