Last week ESPN.com’s Henry Abbott published an article detailing several anonymous sources expressing their negative feelings about Kobe Bryant.  During last night’s season opening Lakers-Rockets game, TNT’s Reggie Miller lit into Abbott’s article, calling it “a coward’s approach to journalism.”

Well… I’d half agree with Reggie, there.  He’s right to call out anonymous sources not being willing to attach their names to their digs at Kobe.  It’s not fair that Kobe has to take all the heat for this while the people who started this don’t face the same scrutiny.  However, that’s not entirely Abbott’s fault.  The value of anonymous sources is that you can uncover more information than you would with their name attached.  The likelihood of someone in the league criticizing Kobe on the record are the same chances of the Lakers winning the championship this year.
