Television and movie funnyman Steve Carell showed up at a Red Sox game and was interviewed by NESN sideline reporter Gary Striewski.  Sideline reporter-celebrity interviews are usually always awkward and this one is no exception.  My favorite part of this interview though, and what slightly sets it apart, is just how starstruck Striewski seems.  In particular, how big of a fan he is of Carell’s work on The Office as Michael Scott.

Carell left the show in 2011 after the end of the seventh season.  He’s done a lot of work in the few years since then, but Striewski asks him nothing but questions about his work on The Office.  The reporter makes seven references to the show in the first minute of the interview!  The only thing missing missing from this interview was Striewski asking Carell if his Shoe La La store had finally taken off.

The track of the interview is actually somewhat fitting as the Red Sox botched a flyball with Carell on the broadcast in true Dunder Mifflin fashion…
