ESPN always seems to have a lot of fun with the President of the United States. He’s clearly a big fan of the network, and his presence on the eve of the NCAA Tournament has been one of the network’s highlights the past few seasons. The network is bringing the President on board again for this year’s tourney.
Network reporter Andy Katz and women’s college basketball analyst Rebecca Lobo both taped segments at the White House, where the Commander-in-Chief made his picks. He, like seemingly every other analyst at the network, has Michigan State taking the men’s title. His Final Four features the Spartans, Arizona, Florida and Louisville.
His men’s picks will air on various ESPN networks throughout Wednesday. Obama’s picks for the women’s tournament (which airs across ESPN’s family of networks) will get the similar treatment on Friday. Excerpts from both will air on tonight and Friday night’s 11 p.m. ET editions of SportsCenter.
The President nailed the champion the first time he partnered with ESPN to do a bracket, taking North Carolina to win it all. His last four picks (Indiana, Kansas, North Carolina, Kentucky), however, have failed to even get to the Final Four. No matter who wins, I’m sure people will find time to complain about the President finding time to do this, rather than trying to just school him with their own bracket.
