The SEC Media Days were almost over. Steve Spurrier and Les Miles had already spoken and Alabama coach Nick Saban was the biggest name still remaining on the docket.

Saban arrived in his usual fanfare and his speech was off to a fine start, referencing the team’s progress and the upcoming season. Just as the coach delved into his piece about steering troubled players onto the right track, some heavy, almost snore-like breathing began piping through the ESPNU feed. To call this distracting would be an understatement.

During this segment of the opening statement, the possessor of this microphone seemed to be in a rhythmic slumber, avoiding the attention of the attendant media, but being foiled by modern sound amplification technology.

But it did not end there.

This person was apparently not asleep because after Saban started talking about his grandchildren, this mysterious master of the microphone chuckled along with the press then briefly became Darth Vader. He speaks a few words and chuckles a bit. Then the microphone is passed to various questioning media members, probably absorbing the particles from its previous owner.

Asleep or not, the owner of this wildly hot mic was definitely inhaling it, and slightly upstaged the keynote speaker.
