We’ve written a lot at this site about what a good year NBCSN is having. Despite Fox Sports 1 having that new network smell, NBCSN has had great ratings thanks to the Olympics, the NHL and the Premier League, among other things. The latter two properties led NBCSN to new heights in May.

In fact, this was the most-watched month in primetime ever for NBCSN. They averaged 1.1 million each night in primetime, and even beat ESPN in primetime once in May. That’s the first time the network has ever gotten into a seven-figure average for a month.

The network also hit a record for primetime among Adults 18-49, with 556,000 viewers per night. Considering that’s half of their primetime audience, not a bad figure. NBCSN also averaged 266,000 total day viewers, tops ever for them in a non-Olympic month.

The NHL led the way for NBCSN, as it often does. In May, NBCSN and CNBC (1.29M viewers per night) managed the best May on cable for the Stanley Cup Playoffs since the year 2000. Six NHL games drew more than 1.75 million viewers, the most-ever in one month for the network, topping five from last year.

Formula One and Premier League also drew big numbers thanks to big events in May. It’ll be a tough summer (the network’s final one without NASCAR) but with the Stanley Cup Final and Tour de France coming, NBCSN will continue to make some noise as the weather gets warmer.
