Transfer Deadline Day is one of the most exciting days on the sports calendar.  Last minute wheeling and dealing takes place all around the soccer world and the drama of potential signings going down to the last minute replicate what you would see at the trade deadline of an American sports league.  However, the levels of intrigue, surprise, and dollar amounts trading hands usually add an extra bit of spice to deadline day.

As they did at the close of last season’s January transfer window, NBCSN will once again have a deadline day special to cover any last minute signings and take a look at the transfer window as a whole in the English Premier League.  The two-hour special airs at 6 PM ET, which is the minute the transfer window shuts in the UK.  While that precludes NBCSN from replicating the manic coverage of Sky Sports News in the UK that is some of the most entertaining sports television anywhere, it does allow them to cover any last second deals in real-time.

Rebecca Lowe will host alongside Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe in the studio.  Premier League insider Neil Ashton will provide reporting from across the pond and NBCSN will also plan to have reporters on-site with EPL teams making news on the final day of the window.

The show won’t just be covering the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United as they look to bolster their squads.  One of the strengths of NBC’s EPL coverage is the attention they pay to all 20 teams in the league.  The same will be true here as the transfer deadline day program will examine the window as a whole and how each EPL team performed in the transfer market.

With plenty of big names still available, and plenty of needs existing for some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, this should be an active final day.  It would be nice if soccer fans had access to deadline day across the major European leagues, but of course NBC’s focus will remain in England.  And for NBCSN, being able to offer something live on transfer deadline day is another step forward for their acclaimed in-depth coverage.
